Bridgewater, NJ - The Bridgewater Township Police Department Traffic Safety Bureau and the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team (C.A.R. Team) are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian that occurred on March 24, 2020 at 1:02 p.m. The crash occurred at the intersection of Union Avenue (State Highway 28) and Finderne Avenue.
The female victim, who has yet to be identified, was walking southbound and crossing Union Avenue in a marked crosswalk when she was struck by a 2001 International tractor trailer being operated by Kevin Sonnon out of Lebanon, PA. The victim was then struck by a 2018 Hyundai Elantra being operated by Richard Katz, out of Bedminster, NJ.
The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The cause of the crash is under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.
